Song Premiere: Slow Teeth – “Window”

Our 2025 Artist of the Year, Slow Teeth, is always in motion. After releasing their highly anticipated debut EP last year, they’ve been hitting the road more and more, pushing their boundaries further while tending the seeds planted from past runs. But don’t be fooled into thinking they’re too busy to work on their next release, because today they released the first sample, “Window”.

A fixture of their live sets, “Window” is a slow-building track that leans more alt-rock, led by lead vocals from guitarist Jeremy Haire. As the band leans into their more cinematic post-rock/shoegaze sound with satisfying riffage, the song crescendos in a way few North Carolina bands do.

Every aspect feels even bigger because the band chose to record at NorthStar Church for the Arts in Durham — from Jeremy’s guitar work, Justin Ellis‘s bass grooves, and Rob Chamberlain’s locked-in rhythms to their collective vocals. Anyone who’s been in that space and knows this band can understand why I immediately jumped to listen when this song landed in my inbox. Shout-out to Paul Blackwell for phenomenal recording and mixing, and Mike Westbrook for mastering.
